Caroline Carlson was the youngest daughter of Karna Hansdotter and Nils Carlsson. She was born on April 19, 1853. Caroline and her older sister Hannah moved to the United States together in 1873. They traveled on the ship 'Wisconsin.' They joined their parents and brothers in Pleasant Grove, where Caroline met Magnus Olsson Nelson, a fellow Swedish immigrant. They were married on August 4, 1873, less than a month after her arrival. Caroline and Magnus had 11 children together. The family lived on a farm just outside of Pleasant Grove. Caroline died on May 14, 1908 after struggling with heart problems.
