Biography
Kjerstina was born in 1821 in Sweden. At age 24 she married Hans Lundblad. They were the first family to be baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweden. With her husband as the first President of the Scandinavian mission, they held church services in their home and Kjerstina led the singing. They faced lots of persecution which led to Kjerstina and her husband being arrested, for Hans it was on numerous occasions. The couple sent their three daughters to Denmark and soon after were able to escape to join them. They then emigrated to America and Kjerstina gave birth along the way to Utah. She was very sick for much of the journey, but Kjerstina got better after about a year. The family struggled financially and often went hungry. Kjerstina wove carpets, which helped her make a living after her husband passed in 1868. Kjerstina passed in 1901 at age 79.
