Biography

Margarethe Larsen was born on June 19, 1837 in Virket, Denmark to parents Maren and Lars Rasmussen. After converting to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she left Holland, Denmark for Utah. She embarked on the ship Electric on April 18, 1862 from Hamburg and arrived in New York on June 5, 1862. She arrived in Utah via handcart company. Margarethe became Christian Nielsen Christiansen’s second wife of four, and the two had five children together. Unfortunately, her husband died in 1880, leaving her a widow for almost 30 years until her death on November 24, 1909.
