Born in Tolne, Denmark, Tomina married Peter Christian Jensen in 1887. Her husband emigrated to America not long after their marriage; six months later, Tomina and her young daughter Carrie crossed the ocean to join him in New York, and, a year after that, the family relocated to central Utah. The family worked hard to raise a farm, run a confectionery store, and manage the Centerfield Opera House, before the confectionery and opera house were both destroyed in a fire in 1927. Seven years earlier, in 1920, the Jensen family home burned completely to the ground; however, all members of the family survived both events unscathed. After a full life raising a family and participating in the local church, Tomina died of chronic myotonia in 1950.
