Biography

Mette Kirstine Olesdatter was born on April 26, 1820 in Lendum, Denmark. She was the second of five children. In 1851, she married Poul Martinus Jensen. They had two daughters together, Birgithe and Ane Johanne. Sometime before 1866, the family converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and decided to join the Saints in Utah. With their two young daughters, Mette and Poul crossed the Atlantic to start a new life in America.

After arriving in Utah, the family settled in Spanish Fork, where Mette lived until her death on June 19, 1885. While she and her husband never learned much English, they had their family close by in their new lives in Utah and stayed faithful members of the Church.
