Biography
Ane Kirstine Pedersen was born on March 3, 1829 in Tågerup, Denmark. She was the second of eight children. In 1849, she married Rasmus Hansen. They had five children together. In 1856, she and her family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and made the decision to emigrate to Utah. However, they weren't able to leave until 1862 because a war broke out and prevented their departure.
As the family journeyed to Utah, Ane's seven-month-old son and three-year-old daughter died. Ane, her husband, and their two older daughters made the journey safely. They moved first to Hyrum in Cache Valley, Utah, before settling in Smithfield. However, Rasmus died in 1864 from drinking bad water, leaving Ane a widow. She went to John Fredrich Mack, the leader of the Scandinavian Saints in Utah, for help, and ended up marrying him. They had one daughter together. Ane's daughter Sophie also married John Fredrich Mack a few years later. Ane passed away on August 3, 1902.
