Biography

Anna Bluth was born in Stockholm Sweden in 1861 to a family that embraced the gospel‬ very early, she was just a child of 7 or 8 when she was baptized in Sweden. Then her‬ family made the journey to the saints in Utah. They moved around Utah, Toole, Ogden,‬ but finally settled in Ogden, where she continued her learning and Sunday school‬ studies. When she was 18 and seeking a life companion, she inquired of the lord and got‬ revelation that she needed to be married to Hyrum Belnap, in a plural marriage. She‬ attended the dedication of the Salt Lake City temple in 1892. Plural marriage was‬ outlawed a few years later and she went into hiding in Idaho where she wrote poetry to‬ her husband. Throughout her life she reflected upon her testimony and was very faithful‬ through it all. Then returning to Ogden in 1908 after things took a turn for the better.‬ After building a brick home, she and her family lived there happily. She died in May‬ of 1931 and was buried in the Ogden City Cemetery.‬
