Biography

Mary Welhelmina Bluth was born on 12 June 1867 in Stockholm Sweden. Her parents John Melcher Ludwig Bluth and Augusta Wilhelmina Wallin were tailors. In 1877, Mary was baptized after hearing about the gospel from her Uncle. In 1878, the Bluth family immigrated to Utah and settled in Ogden after living in Grantsville for a short time. After settling in Utah, Mary worked as a domestic servant until her marriage to Thomas Arthur Gladman Shreeve in 1888 as his second wife. Partaking in the covenant of plural marriage was scary but worth it to Mary. Mary had six children with Thomas. Mary loved music. She saved her money in order to purchase an organ and became a self-taught organist. She served as the relief society organist in her ward for 15 years. Mary passed away on 26 February 1956 in Ogden and was buried in the same city.
