Biography
The family joined the church in Denmark in 1855. After facing persecution they immigrated to Utah in 1866 leaving their two sons, Nels and Rasmus behind to work. The family settled in Bear River, a predominately Scandinavian town, so Magdalene never learned English. Rasmus and Niels left Denmark for Utah in 1869, but Niels passed away on the boat leaving the family with a lock of his hair to remember him by. In 1871 they migrated to Cottonwood, present-day Holladay, Utah. Magdalene died in 1903 in Naples, Utah in the home of her daughter Tora.
