Biography

Juline Larsdatter was born on 2 June 1844 in Nes, Hedmark, Norway. She was the third child of Lars Andersen and Johanna Larsdatter. She first heard about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of thirteen and was baptized at sixteen by her future husband, Niels Pederson. She moved out of her parents home in 1861. Later that same year, she married Niels Pederson on 29 November 1861 in Kristiania, Norway. In April 1862, Juline and Niels journeyed to America. They eventually arrived in Nebraska, and decided to stay there a few months to wait out the winter before heading to Zion. It was here that Juline gave birth to her first child, Josephine, who passed away four months later.

Juline and Niels settled in Fairview, Sanpete, Utah and had nine more children together. They were formally sealed to each other at the Endowment House on 29 July 1880. In the fall of 1881, Juline, Niels, and their seven living children moved to Mesa, Arizona by request of church leaders. Juline lived in Mesa for the rest of her life. She loved music and learning about the stories of composers. She spent most of her final years in bed due to her failing health, but passed the time with sewing by hand. Juline died on 5 September 1903 in Mesa, Maricopa, Arizona. She was buried in the Mesa City Cemetery on 6 September 1903.
