Biography
Though there is little information on Agatha’s FamilySearch Profile, this researcher has been able to find much about her life through newspaper records. On the census it says that she came to the US in 1915. That year in May she married Hans Christian Due, another Danish immigrant, in Salt Lake City. In June of 1916 they had their first child, Wilford Harry. She had one more child with Hans in 1920 when they lived in the mining town, Rainbow. The Vernal Express records her as having a job as a janitor there. The town was extremely small and she made a garden there with another woman. This means that the family was probably very poor there since she had a wage job and cooked from a garden. In 1927 they again lived in Salt Lake City. It was there that Agatha filed for divorce two times on claims of cruelty in March. In 1928 she married Harry Dahlberg, a Swedish immigrant who was Lutheran. It is unclear what Agatha’s relationship to the church was, though she was baptized and confirmed when she came to the United States. From various newspaper records, it seems like they had a happy life in Salt Lake. Agatha and Harry had one child together in 1934, Betty Elizabeth Ann, and Agatha’s other children took Harry’s last name as well. Harry was a car mechanic and owned the City Garage and South Salt Lake Garage in Salt Lake City. In May of 1937, Harry was named city taxi inspector. In 1940, Agatha’s mother, Caroline Larsen, was living with the family. Harry passed away on June 15th, 1940 due to a “self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.” After Harry died, Agatha continued to live in Salt Lake City until she died February 5, 1992 at 99 years old. Her obituary mentions that she was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, but it is unknown when she converted to that church.
