Biography
Marit Jacobsdatter Bøe was born on July 15, 1836 in Fron, Oppland, Norway to Embjør Olsdatter and Jacob Tollevsen Bøe. She married Erich Poulsen Vaalen Tarud on November 1, 1858 in Gausdal, Oppland, Norway. Erich and Marit were baptized into the Church on January 2, 1866. They had seven children together before Erich died in 1877. Marit immigrated to Utah with her three youngest children in September 1882. On September 13, 1905 Marit married Latter-day Saint artist Dan Weggeland. Little is known about Marit’s life in Utah. She died on December 5, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah and was buried in the same city.
