Biography

Anna Christina’s family lived in a beautiful home in Sweden near a lake with nursemaids and house maids when they met the Mormon missionaries. They were among the first families in Sweden to join the church and their “home was a haven to the Mormon Elders.” Her father was a police officer in Alingsas but was forced to resign after his baptism to the Mormon Church. They decided to sell their estate, using the money to secure passage for themselves and 100 others on ships to Zion.

Once they arrived, the family settled in Gransville. Soon after, Christina Carlson passed away and the father remarried, but the stepmother was cruel and Annie soon left home to work for the Eastam family. There she met George Q Cannon and Joseph F. Smith as they were acquaintances of the family.

It is rumored that J Ruben Clark sought permission to marry Annie, but her father refused and married Jacob Dayley on 9 January 1879 in the Endowment house by Daniel H. Wells after he was baptized.

She held many callings. In Grantsville she was the sunday school teacher and choir member until 1877. In Oakley Idaho she was the Relief Society teacher 1895, Treasurer of RS 1906 in Oakley 4th Ward and second counselor to Almina R Roch 18 April 1916. She received two patriarchal blessings from William G Young on 21 Jan 1874 and John Rowberry on 15 Feb 1858.

She was 4ft 11in and 136 lbs with brown hair and eyes. She reported her two interests as religion and family. Annie died in 1939.
