Biography
Stina Caisa Andersdotter was born in Undenäs, Sweden on November 23, 1820. Her parents were Sara Svensdotter and Anders Nilsson. At age 19, on December 30, 1839, she married Andreas Andersson. They settled near Stina's birthplace in Skaraborg. In 1851, Stina had her only child, a son named Andreas John Anderson.
At some point shortly before 1860, Stina and her family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1860, they decided to leave Sweden to join the other Saints in Utah. On May 11th, they sailed from Liverpool on the William Tapscott, arriving in New York City on June 16th. There were many storms and a smallpox outbreak on the ship they took, but Stena and her family all survived. By July 20th, they had joined William Budge's wagon company. They arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on October 5th.
They remained in Salt Lake for a while before moving to Grantsville, Utah, where they started farming and raising stock. Stina lived in Grantsville for the rest of her life. She passed away there on August 2, 1883, at the age of 62. She was buried in the Grantsville City Cemetery.
