Biography
Johanna Ulrika Lundgren was born on March 13, 1807 in Copenhagen, Denmark to Swedish parents. She was their second child. Ulrika's family was a part of the landed gentry in Sweden. She fell in love with Påhl Jönsson, who was a coachman on their estate. She married Påhl Jönsson in Malmö, Sweden on May 12, 1845 against her parents’ will and was disinherited. Ulrika and Påhl had two daughters together, one who died at two years old, before Påhl abandoned her. Ulrika joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while living in Sweden. She moved to Utah in 1879, a year after her daughter had moved to Utah. Her fare was paid for by her son-in-law and future husband Phineas Wolcott Cook. Ulrika married Phineas Wolcott Cook on July 8, 1880 at the endowment house in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had no children together. She lived with Phineas and her daughter Johanna and her grandchildren for the rest of her life. Ulrika died on November 9, 1883 in Logan, Utah at the age of 76. She is buried in Logan, Utah.
