Biography

Anna Sophia was born to Sophia Ekstrom and Anders Hellman. She had light bring hair and blue eyes. When she was four her mother married Erick Netterstrom. She joined the church and immigrated to Utah. She married Peter Nelson on board the ship and gave birth to two daughters while living in Nebraska. There she purchased a cook stove, which was rare for the time. The family eventually secured the funds to finish their journey to Utah where they settled in Tooele. Here she gave birth to nine more children. Her biography reports that often she would sit at night holding her babies and crying "wishing to see her mother once more [and] often talked about her people in Sweden." She was industrious, making soaps, candles along with her knitting. She died in Tooele at age 86.
