Biography

Mary was born in Sweden in 1870. She had six brothers and three sisters. Her family immigrated to Utah when she was 14. At age 22, she married her husband, Niels, and they had fifteen children, the first five of which did not live longer than a few weeks. They lived on a nice big farm with lots of land and an apple orchard. After Niels died from the Spanish flu in 1918, Mary had to run their farm by herself. On the farm they also had a large storage building that they would clear out and use for dances. Mary was known to be hardworking, love children, cook delicious food, and would share with anyone who stopped by. She died in 1950 at age 80.
