Biography
Elisa Olsdotter was born on April 6, 1830 in Malmöhus, Sweden to Kjerstina and Hans Olsson. She was the second of eight children who lived into adulthood, five of which were daughters. In the 1850s, Elisa, her mother, and her three younger sisters all joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In order to save enough money to immigrate to Utah, Elisa and her younger sister Hanna worked in a china factory in Copenhagen, Denmark.
In 1863, Elisa, Johanne, and Ingra joined Hanna in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. Elisa met a man from Sweden, Neils B Neilsson while crossing the plains, and they were married shortly after their arrival in Utah. They had three daughters together. Eliza passed away on February 15, 1915, in Manti, Utah, at eighty-four years of age.
