Biography
Johanna H Olsson was born in Skurup, Malmöhus, Sweden on November 10, 1834. She was the fourth of eight surviving children and the third daughter. In the 1850s, Johanna, her mother Kjerstina, her older sister Elisa, and her two younger sisters Ingra and Hanna were all baptized members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Because of their new faith, they all wished to emigrate to Utah to be with the other Saints.
In 1863, Johanna, Elisa, and Ingra all left for the States, following their sister Hanna. As their wagon train was finally reaching Utah, Wiley Payne Allred and his son came out to meet it and met Johanna. Johanna and Wiley were married shortly after, on October 18, 1863. Johanna was his third of four wives. Johanna moved many times and had seven children during her life in Utah. After an accident in which her skirts caught on fire, Johanna passed away on December 18, 1912, and was buried in the Emery cemetery.
