Biography
Frederike Christensdatter was born on June 10, 1825 in Tulstrup, Tulstrup, Skanderborg, Denmark to Christen Rasmussen Degn and Maren Rasmusdatter. She had three older siblings and four younger siblings. One of her younger siblings died as a baby but everyone else survived to adulthood. In Denmark she married Mikkel Jensen in 1845. In 1852 her father died. She was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in April 1853. In September of 1853 she had a child, Christine Mikkelsen. Christine died 4 years later in 1857.
In the spring of 1858, Frederike traveled by ship to the United States. She was listed as a maid in the ship records. Then in 1858 May 19 she travelled with the Iver N. Iversen Company from Iowa City, Iowa to Salt Lake City, Utah where she arrived on September 20. She moved to Manti and lived there until her death. In 1859 she married Christian Ipsen Munk, with whom she had four daughters. In 1869 three of those daughters got sick and died just three days apart. Only her youngest, Petrea Munk survived, but she lived all the way until 1945. She got married and had ten children, eight of whom survived to adulthood.
