Biography
Jensina Katrina Lind was born on March 14, 1853 in Ålborg, Denmark. Her father, Jens Christian Anton Lind, was 30 and her mother, Mariane Nielsdatter, was 26. She was the fourth born child of at least ten siblings. She migrated to the United States in 1868 at the age of 14. Her journey to the United States started in Liverpool from where she sailed on the “Emerald Isle” to New York. She arrived in the United States on 14th of August and began her journey to Utah on 1st of September. She arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah on 25th of September. Her journey to Utah was influenced by a lot of misfortune, where another passenger on the trip was arrested and the other members of the church was accused of taking women against their will. This caused a mob of people to chase them necessitating an escort from U.S soldiers. After she arrived in Utah along with her family, she married Peter Anton Mortensen on 30. October 1871, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. She birthed him at least 5 sons and 3 daughters. Later in her life she moved from Utah to Idaho, where she at first lived in Kilgore, Ferment Idaho and later moved to Rupert, Minidoka, Idaho in 1920. She died on 10. August 1929, in Moiese, Lake, Montana, at the age of 76, and was buried in Ronan, Lake, Montana. She died before her husband who moved to Los Angeles afterward.
