Biography
Ellen Margarethe Hansdatter was born on February 9, 1802 in the town of Klemensker on the island of Bornholm. She was the second of seven children. In 1821, she married Peder Pedersen, and they had ten children together, eight boys and two girls, all of which were born on Bornholm. In 1845, Peder died, and Ellen later married Jens Pedersen Marcher in 1849.
In 1852, Ellen and her family were baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and they left Bornholm to sail to the United States to join the Saints in Zion. They arrived in Salt Lake in September of 1853 and settled first in Lehi, Utah before moving on to Manti. Ellen Margarethe died on January 12, 1879 in Manti.
